           China Just Got a Little Closer

Ladies and Gentleman, we are delighted to welcome you to the first European showing of Drum Drama, a show in which the magnificent sound of the drum is used to convey absorbing ancient tales from the Chinese mainland.

This show is as much about the experience as the drum beats and we are confident that there is something for everyone to enjoy in this unique event.

Our sixteen performers range in age from 16-24 and have toured the USA, Canada, Korea, Malaysia and Hong Kong before making their European debut here in Edinburgh this August.

The skills required to perform with these drums have been handed down from generation to generation and are part of a timeless tradition, unique to the Shanxi province of China. Many of our cast first began to learn their drum techniques at the age of three.

Drum Drama has been awarded six gold medals by the China National Arts council and has recently been the subject of an inspiring documentary by the Discovery channel.

We are sanctioned and funded by the Chinese government, making us the first official all Chinese show to ever perform at the Fringe.

Drum Dram has been in operation for 20 years now and our cast have performed to widespread applause around the world. We are all very excited to be here in Edinburgh and look forward to entertaining a whole new audience with our truly memorable sound.

This show is approximately one hour long and the content and context of each individual performance will be explained via this overhead projector.
